On-Field Positives:

  • Calm in the pocket

  • Good touch passing

  • Patient

  • Utilizes checkdowns well

  • Good ball placement

  • Runs well but does not rely on his legs.

  • Pocket movement

  • Doesn't miss layups.

  • Can throw effectively when the defense knows he has to throw.

  • Throws into tight windows

  • Escapability

  • Protects the football

  • Good in RPO

  • Always give Nebraska a chance to win.

  • Leadership

Off-Field Positives:

  • Leadership

  • Work ethic

  • Dedication

  • Staying late and putting in extra time in the weight room and working with teammates.

Physical Traits:

  • Body type, 6’3 230lbs. Looks like a slightly bigger Mahomes, moves simlar to Big Ben.

  • Arm strength

  • Mobility

Concerns:

  • Raiola has good arm strength, but he is underthrowing on go routes and post routes

  • Had a tendency to go to the checkdown too soon when opportunities for more yards from other routes were developing.

  • A little bit of a gun slinger.

  • Slight tendency to retreat backwards to let routes develop when he is feeling some pressure. That is something we need to see change in 2025.

NFL Prediction

I believe there is huge upside with Dylan Raiola, he looks the part physically and he acts the part off the field. He has undeniably taken a big step forward from his freshman year to his sophomore year statistically. If he continues in that direction next year he could be the first overall pick. I think he is getting a realistic experience at Nebraska where the roster isn’t perfect and he has to put a cape on and be superman from time to time. I believe he could do the same for a team picking at the top of the draft in 2027, assuming he declares after his junior year instead of staying for a senior year. He will be a franchise quarterback for whoever drafts him as long as they do not get in their own way of success.
