On-Field Positives
Good at getting into the pocket.
Good at defending the run.
Rushes at different body angles, shows a lot of control.
Can keep his body low for pad leverage.
Shows ability to get into the backfield with his speed.
Uses his speed to get into the backfield around the ends of the offensive line.
Good hand work to get off blocks at the line.
Utilizes the swim move well.
Can get his arms up for knocking down passes at the line.
Physical Traits
6’3, 275lbs
Speed rusher
Strength
Quick footwork
Long and rangy
Concerns
Looking at his tape against ND he looks very productive, but not an overwhelming player.
He is a true DE, I wouldn’t expect him to be able to be effective lining up against the middle of the offensive line.
NFL Prediction
Bain Jr. is definitely a first round talent. I believe he will be very productive almost no matter where he goes. I think a realistic and fair prediction is he could finish a season being top 15 in sacks, maybe any given year he could be top 5 or better. He showed as a freshman he can go get a good amount of sacks. I think his NFL career will be parallel to college. His sack total will vary, but he will maintain the ability to get consistent pressure.
